The doctors and technicians at Fort Hunt Animal Hospital feel very strongly about providing appropriate, adequate pain management for all of our patients. Whether your pet is here for surgery, lameness, or a torn nail, rest assured that we will take every step to be sure your furry family member is pain-free!
So why should you care about pain management? First and foremost, we don't want our loved ones to feel any kind of pain. Pain takes its toll on the body in many ways and can actually delay the healing process. It also creates a negative association with the veterinary hospital, which leads to anxiety and stress for even routine appointments.
Our doctors and technicians are licensed professionals trained to provide pain management using oral and injectable medications, epidural analgesia, and alternative therapies.
Highly focused on pain management, Fort Hunt Animal Hospital offers the Companion Therapy Laser treatment. Also referred to as "cold laser," this option enables treatment for your pet without medication, or as a complementary treatment as part of a pain management plan.
This is the only course of treatment that stimulates the body to heal from within. Although it doesn't require medication, it may enhance the effectiveness of injections or oral pain medications as well.
Completely painless, the cold laser treatment reduces swelling in joints and soft tissue, minimizing pain caused by pressure from swelling. For these reasons, we include a cold laser treatment at the end of most surgical procedures.
I have been using Ft. Hunt Animal Hospital for about 30 years and have always found the doctors and staff to be very caring. I appreciate the time spent explaining specific findings and answering questions. I never feel rushed.
