As much as it may pain you to part with your furry companion, sometimes you have no choice but to leave your dog or cat behind when you travel. We understand how stressful it can be – both for you and your pet – to be apart. As your Alexandria veterinarian, we offer pet boarding services designed to give your pet the best possible experience while you are away. No matter how long you are away for, you can depend on our highly-trained and compassionate team to take great care of your loved one!
There are a number of benefits of boarding your dog or cat with us here at Fort Hunt Animal Hospital, including:
Because you are boarding your pet with an animal hospital, quality vet care is guaranteed if something goes wrong. The veterinarians and the staff here treat injuries and illness in pets day in and day out, so we are well-equipped to handle any health problems that occur while you are away.
We have recently upgraded the accommodations we offer, so your pet will be housed in spacious, modern kennels designed to be both safe and comfortable.
Your pet needs daily stimulation and exercise, something we understand well as vets. Time out of the kennel is scheduled into each day, and you have the option of purchasing additional play time if you choose.
We feed all our boarders high-quality food approved by veterinarians. You can also leave your preferred food with us and we will feed it instead.
Our team understands the importance of giving prescribed medication on-time and in a manner consistent with vet instructions. Whatever your pet’s medication needs, we have you covered.
We require that every pet that boards with us meet minimum vaccination requirements, for the benefit of both your pet and all our other guests. Vaccination requirements include:
ALL PETS must have a current annual fecal exam.
It is ideal to get all required vaccinations at least a few weeks before boarding. The majority of vaccines are not fully effective until 14-28 days after administration.
You can present proof of vaccinations before you arrive or when you arrive. Fortunately, if you forget something, we can administer any necessary vaccines when you drop your pet off.
We require at least 72 hours notice for cancellations. If you cancel within 72 hours, we will charge $80 for each pet that was scheduled to board with us.
Please give us a call at 703-360-6100 to schedule boarding at Fort Hunt Animal Hospital. We look forward to taking care of your pet while you are away!
I have been using Ft. Hunt Animal Hospital for about 30 years and have always found the doctors and staff to be very caring. I appreciate the time spent explaining specific findings and answering questions. I never feel rushed.
